Helpful Tips to Ensure Optimal Test Administration

For the best testing experience, teachers may wish to check the status of Kite® Suite before logging into the system.

Go to http://dynamiclearningmaps.org/kite.

If the status of Student Portal is green, it is a good time to test a student. If the status is yellow, and you have the flexibility to wait, you may wish to delay testing students.

If the status of Educator Portal is green, it is a good time to manage data or create a new report. If the status is yellow, and you have the flexibility to wait, you may wish to delay managing data or obtaining new reports.

System Timeout

Typically, a student can be inactive in Student Portal for up to 90 minutes. If a student requires a break that lasts longer than 90 minutes, the system will log out automatically and the student’s responses will not be saved.

A similar principle applies when student testing is interrupted due to a timeout issue. The intended user experience is:

  • If the student is logged back in to Student Portal within 90 minutes, then responses entered should be saved. The best practice is for the teacher and student to review the testlet together from the beginning.
  • If the student is logged back in to Student Portal after 90 minutes have passed, the responses are not saved.
