Technology: KITE & Educator Portal
The Kansas Interactive Testing Engine™ (KITE) platform was designed and developed to meet the needs of the next generation of large-scale assessments. KITE™ consists of four applications. The two parts students and teachers use are:
The KITE Client provides an online testing interface for students that includes practice items and formative tools. A student Username and password are required to access KITE.
Students access KITE through the desktop link that your Technical Liaison has installed on testing devices. When you click the KITE link, access to the rest of the device is disabled until you close KITE. You will need to have the student’s username and password to log in.
Educator Portal (EP) is the administrative application where staff and educators manage student data. To set up an Educator Portal account, ask your local or state Data Steward or Assessment Coordinator.
- A Data Steward uses Educator Portal to upload User, Enrollment, and Roster files.
- A teacher uses Educator Portal to review student data, complete the Personal Needs and Preferences Profile (PNP) and First Contact data, and print student usernames and passwords for testing.
